UG.........!

After 3 weeks lovely holiday followed by 12 hours of travelling this is the state my apartment was in when I got back. I had the painters in while I was away which seemed like a good plan at the time. But when all you want to do is have a cup of tea and fall into a nice fresh bed this was not the ideal situation. Everything except my clothes is in the pile ....... hmmmmmmm going to take a while to sort this out.
The paintjob is fresh though .... all nice and bright so watch this space for the tidy version!

Transportation

Here the transit police are setting the trap for their victims. They stop the tram and post guards at the exits so any non payers can't do a runner from the back door. Then they haul the people theyve nabbed off the tram and into the red bus/office on the right. There you will get a ticket for $150!!! Ouch!

There are bikes you can use dotted around the city in these racks . You pay a one time deposit on a credit card . Then you can take the bike from the rack with an access card and use it for 3 hours after which it has to be returned . Of course you end up riding round trying to find an empty rack to return the bike especially in the popular areas.
This is the latest in Norwegian technology

Around Town

Here are a few snapshots of Oslo. Matt and Silje's street first . They live in a trendy area called Grünerløkka ...which is kind of like the Greenwich Village of Oslo. It is an older part of town where mostly the working class people lived at the beginning of last century. Nowadays its young professionals and their babies. Lots of trendy restaurants ,shops and cafes.

The grey building used to be a grain silo It was converted into student accommodation for the univesity.

The last pic is a look down the main shopping street to the Royal Palace at the end

afternoon trip on the tube

It looked like a nice day today after all the rain yesterday so we packed up Maud(and a lot of wet weather gear) and headed out on the tube to Sognsvann - a small lake on the north side of Oslo.

Maud perfected her 'subway stare' ready to keep even the freaks of the subway in New York at bay!!.. "hey buddy :I don't bother you, you don't bother me .....kapish??"

On the way home we decided it was time Maud learned all about how to earn a living........Her heartfelt rendition of 'Twinkle Twinkle Litte Star' had the whole compartment in tears and earned enough for......well...for me and Matt to have a couple of beers at the pub on the way home.....

which brings me to the title of this post.... which translated means

'there's no such thing as bad weather; only bad clothing'

haha those funny Norwegians.

Maud stayed toasty dry and warm in her 'Rolls Royce' pram and slept through the whole thing.
